Masllorenç

Town

Masllorenç is one of the most little towns in Baix Penedès, located in the mountain limit with the region of Alt Camp. It’s one of the least known towns because of its distance from the coast and their geographic, economical and monumental particularities. Masllorenç has two city centres, Masllorenç and Masarbonès, two towns in one. The main economic
activity is agriculture, especially vineyard farming, although the furniture industry is important, too, which gives work to a lot of people.

One of the most prominent heritage elements is voltes de Cal Baró, some arches, which are archeological remains of a fortification from the Dark Age. On the other hand, there are other elements, like Sant Ramon de Penyafort’s Church, an excellent example of Catalan classicist baroque, with latin cross base and barrel vault cover. First references are from 1582. Moreover, stone sides and cabins are elements which characterise the landscape of Masarbonès.

Finally, the two little towns have some celebrations. Patronat’s party is celebrated on 26th January, Saint Isidore is on 15th May, Festa Major from Masllorenç is on 1st Sunday in August and from Masarbonès is on 24th August, too.
